Have You Had Your Hearing Tested Lately ?

Why should I care about hearing loss ?

  • Over 30 million people in the United States suffer from hearing loss, yet only about five million of these individuals are diagnosed and treated.
  • Hearing loss occurs gradually and an individual may not initially realize it is happening
  • Hearing loss is the most common birth defect and one of the most common chronic conditions.
  • The prevalence of hearing loss rises sharply with age, affecting approximately 40% of all people at age 65 and 50% at age 75.
  • If you have ringing in your ears you may have hearing loss. Ringing, also called tinnitus, is oftentimes associated with hearing loss
  • If you have been exposed to significant levels of noise, you may have hearing loss

Left untreated, hearing loss has been linked to clinical depression, and a host of physical, cognitive, behavioral and social health problems. Modern treatment options (medical or surgical intervention and amplification technology) have been proven to be highly effective in comparison to options available only a few years ago.

Why is hearing testing important ?

  • It is important to have a baseline test in order to identify deterioration in one's hearing ability as early as possible.
  • Some types of hearing loss can be medically treated with surgery or medicine and an improvement in hearing could occur.
  • Other types of loss can be treated with amplification to improve one's ability to hear.

Our offices uses the Otogram™, which is the first and only automated and self-administered comprehensive diagnostic hearing testing equipment that does not require a sound booth

The test can be conducted in 11 languages!

Kirkwood Medical Associates diagnoses patients with hearing loss on a daily basis at their practice. Most insurers including Medicare will cover Hearing Testing.
